Balmain announce departure of CEO – replacement not yet confirmed

Jean-Jacques Guével has announced his decision to leave his position as the chief executive officer of Balmain after a four-year tenure, aiming to explore new opportunities. The luxury brand acknowledged his departure, highlighting the significant growth and advancements the company has made during his leadership.

The future plans for Guével are yet to be disclosed, and Balmain has not yet appointed his replacement.

Guével expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead one of Paris’s most storied luxury fashion houses, emphasizing the brand’s rich heritage and his role in preparing it for continued growth.

Balmain’s chairman, Rachid Mohamed Rachid, also the CEO of the brand’s parent company Mayhoola, expressed his appreciation for Guével’s efforts in contributing to Balmain’s success and wished him the best for the future. He remarked on the brand’s potential for global leadership in the luxury sector, attributed to its heritage, the creativity of Olivier Rousteing, and the dedicated team. Rachid announced plans to continue the brand’s growth trajectory and to name a new CEO in the future.

Before joining Balmain in early 2020, Guével was the CEO of Zadig & Voltaire, where he focused on accelerating the brand’s international growth, particularly in the U.S. and China. His career includes significant roles such as international director of Céline and positions within LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton’s fashion division, among others at S.T. Dupont and Louis Vuitton. Guével is an alumnus of HEC Business School and Sciences Po in Paris.

This announcement follows the recent departure of Txampi Diz, Balmain’s chief marketing officer, whose successor is also yet to be announced.
