Siemens Gamesa, the wind turbine division of Siemens Energy, plans to reduce its workforce by around 15%. The company is cutting 4,100 jobs, according to an internal letter from Chief Executive Jochen Eickholt.
Eickholt emphasized the need for adjustments due to decreased business volumes and activity in non-core markets. The company aims to streamline its portfolio to adapt to the evolving landscape.
A spokesperson for Siemens Energy stated that the exact number of job cuts will be disclosed after consultations with stakeholders.
The restructuring, initially reported by Spanish newspaper El Correo, follows Siemens Energy’s recent announcement of significant changes at Siemens Gamesa, which includes workforce reductions.
Eickholt clarified that the objective is to maintain Siemens Gamesa’s total workforce stability by reallocating and hiring in other areas. This echoes statements made by Siemens Energy CEO Christian Bruch earlier.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by employees, particularly amid recent events, Eickholt assured them of the company’s commitment to its wind business’s future.
