UK FSA Appoints Katie Pettifer as Permanent Chief Executive

The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) has appointed Katie Pettifer, M.A., as its permanent Chief Executive after a selection process.

Pettifer has served as FSA’s interim Chief Executive since September 2024. She has also been FSA’s Director of Strategy since July 2021.

Before joining FSA, Pettifer worked as Director of Public Policy at the UK Office of Communications. She has held senior Civil Service roles at the UK Ministry of Justice, Cabinet Office, and Northern Ireland Office.

Pettifer assumes the role of Chief Executive during FSA’s 25th anniversary year. This period also marks the launch of initiatives like the UK Plan for Change, the development of a food strategy in England, and the implementation of Food Matters: Wales and the Northern Ireland Food Strategy.
