DJH Expands into Ireland with Acquisition of MSD Accountants

DJH, one of the UK’s fastest‑growing professional services groups, has completed its first Irish acquisition by investing in MSD Accountants, a well‑established Dublin practice. The deal builds a “natural bridge” for DJH to serve clients across the EU and offers MSD’s existing customers a full‑service presence in the UK.

Based at Santry Business Park, MSD Accountants employs 30 staff who will continue under the leadership of Managing Partner Richard Daly and Head of Assurance Brendan Murtagh. “It is fantastic to be joining the DJH group and all the additional expertise, enhanced capabilities and international reach that comes with it,” said Mr Daly.

Founded in 1990, MSD provides advisory, assurance, business support and tax services to a wide client base—from multinational subsidiaries to family businesses—across sectors including entertainment, hospitality, construction, automotive, IT and communications.

DJH Chief Operating Officer James Beardmore highlighted Dublin’s appeal: “It is one of the most significant financial hubs in Europe, with a strong economy, favourable corporate tax rate and, post‑Brexit, an increasingly attractive access point for UK firms trading with the EU. MSD Accountants is the perfect fit with its reputation for fantastic service and specialisms in several aligned sectors for us.”

The acquisition gives DJH enhanced multinational service capability and EU regulatory compliance for UK clients seeking cross‑border tax planning and expansion. “Our strong acquisition drive has now taken us into Dublin,” added Mr Beardmore, “and our first aim is to increase organic growth with MSD Accountants by extending services to existing clients and attracting new ones. The partnership also gives us the perfect platform to target more M&A activity in Ireland.”

Backed by private equity firm Tenzing, DJH has completed fifteen acquisitions in four years, growing to a multidisciplinary team of 670 across 13 UK offices.
