Preply Launches “The Better Duo” Campaign

Preply, the online language tutoring platform, has launched “The Better Duo,” a global campaign celebrating the human connections at the heart of effective language learning. As competitors double down on AI-driven experiences, Preply is expanding its network of expert tutors and inviting users to share their personal tutor–student stories.

Human Connection Over Chatbots

In an industry dominated by apps that emphasise automated reminders and gamified streaks, Preply’s new campaign underscores that true fluency relies on empathy, cultural insight, and long-term trust. Launched across social channels, The Better Duo spotlights real-life pairs whose learning journeys extend well beyond vocabulary drills:

  • Daniel & José Luis: Over 1,400 Spanish lessons enabled a U.S. mental health professional to conduct psychiatric evaluations in Spanish, closing critical gaps in healthcare.
  • Gustavo & Mónica: Eight years of English lessons in Costa Rica led not only to a promotion for psychologist Gustavo but also a lifelong friendship grounded in cultural exchange.
  • Chris & Luis: Spanish lessons in New Hampshire became a bridge to family and culture, helping Chris build a bilingual household.

While Duolingo’s pivot toward AI sparked debate, Preply’s stance is clear: technology supports but does not replace human tutors.

To bring the campaign to life, Preply has launched the My Better Duo Instagram challenge. Learners can enter by:

  1. Teaming up with their Preply tutor or student
  2. Posting an Instagram Story using the “Add Yours” sticker titled My Better Duo
  3. Tagging @preply and using the hashtag #MyBetterDuo
