Talbots Law expands into North Staffordshire and Cheshire with Tinsdills acquisition

Talbots Law, one of the Midlands’ fastest-growing employee-owned firms, has acquired Tinsdills Solicitors to extend its footprint into North Staffordshire and Cheshire. The deal brings approximately 85 staff and adds offices in Leek, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Sandbach, and Stoke-on-Trent to Talbots Law’s existing network.

Strategic growth and geographic reach

The acquisition aligns with Talbots Law’s plan to broaden its reach across the Black Country, Birmingham, Coventry, Shropshire, and Worcestershire. By integrating Tinsdills’ established local presence—dating back to 1580—the firm strengthens its ability to deliver a full spectrum of legal services across the Midlands.

Employee-owned model drives culture

“Since becoming an Employee-Owned Trust (EOT) in 2021, we’ve been focused on both organic and acquisitive growth to accelerate our presence,” said Dave Hodgetts, CEO of Talbots Law.
“This deal takes our combined turnover to over £40m turnover and expands our footprint to 19 offices. North Staffordshire and Cheshire have long been ‘target’ areas for us, and there are few firms as respected as Tinsdills Solicitors whose roots date back to 1580. The decision to join forces was easy – our values align, and we share a deep commitment to supporting local people and businesses. Tinsdills’ client service is ranked as top 15 nationally on Review Solicitors, which speaks volumes.”

“As an employee-owned business, every member of our team has a stake in our success. That shared ownership drives our culture, our client service, and our ambition. Welcoming the Tinsdills team into our employee ownership model means we’re not just growing – we’re growing together.”

Continuity for clients and staff

Existing Tinsdills staff will continue serving clients from their current locations, ensuring seamless service. The integration preserves local relationships while leveraging Talbots Law’s broader resources.

“We’re excited to be joining Talbots Law,” said Peter Hamilton, Business Owner and Chairman of Tinsdills Solicitors. “While our name will retire, this move allows us to build on our legacy and embrace new opportunities for growth and enhanced client service. Our clients can be rest assured that the trusted relationships they have built with our team will remain – now backed by the strength and shared values of an employee-owned firm.”

This acquisition marks one of Talbots Law’s largest to date and underscores its commitment to strategic, employee-driven growth across the region.
