Infinite Medical Ventures, in partnership with Centre for Sight, has launched IMVIS (Infinite Medical Ventures Imaging System), a ground-breaking 3D eye imaging platform that enables fully remote, glasses-free examinations and real-time telemedicine. This technology digitises the traditional slit-lamp exam for the first time, allowing high-definition 3D images to be captured, reviewed, and shared anywhere on smartphones, tablets, or computers.
Bringing Ophthalmology into the Digital Age
The slit-lamp exam has remained largely unchanged for over a century. IMVIS replaces manual observations and 2D images with fully digital, three-dimensional video datasets ready for AI integration. Clinicians can now:
- Perform real-time, remote consultations
- Collaborate with specialists across locations
- Document every visit with accurate 3D imagery
- Eliminate outdated clinical drawings
These structured datasets provide the foundation for future AI-driven diagnostic tools, promising to reduce waiting lists, lower clinician workload, and expand access to specialist care.
Current Deployments and Expansion Plans
IMVIS is already in routine use at Centre for Sight’s East Grinstead and Oxshott centres, with London installations scheduled soon at Harley Street and the London Lauriston Clinic. The system was co-developed by Sheraz Daya, Medical Director at Centre for Sight, and Professor Tom Williamson, a leading retinal surgeon.
“This is a complete digital transformation,” said Sheraz Daya. “IMVIS makes fully remote eye care possible today while creating the clinical infrastructure for AI-driven diagnostics tomorrow. It’s more than an upgrade – it’s a new standard.”
“IMVIS will fundamentally change how we deliver eye care,” said Professor Tom Williamson. “It will help reduce waiting times, make eye care more accessible, and open the door to scalable, AI-supported clinical decision-making.”
Addressing Industry Challenges
With ageing populations and overstretched services, ophthalmology faces growing demands. IMVIS offers a faster, flexible alternative to in-person exams, enabling:
- Efficient patient management through remote data review
- Automated analysis that highlights anomalies
- A training resource for clinicians using realistic 3D models
Centre for Sight has a history of innovation, from pioneering LASIK surgery to advanced corneal treatments and today holds a 97% five-star rating on Trustpilot.
