LexisNexis Risk Solutions and Kia Connect have entered a strategic collaboration to embed the LexisNexis Drive Metrics scoring service into the Kia App across 27 EU countries and the U.K. The new feature delivers a consumer-friendly, risk-based driving score—based on speeding, braking, acceleration, time of day, and mileage—so Kia owners can monitor and improve their driving habits. With driver consent, these scores can also be shared with participating insurers to support more accurate risk assessment and tailored insurance offers.
Real-Time Driving Feedback and Coaching
The integrated driving score provides immediate feedback on risk exposure and offers coaching tips to encourage safer behaviour. By reviewing their performance in the app, drivers can adjust habits that lead to lower insurance costs and better fuel efficiency. Insurers partnering with Kia Connect will receive anonymised, standardised driving data to refine pricing models and deliver personalised premiums based on actual behaviour.
“We are pleased to collaborate with Kia Connect on this important endeavour to help Kia owners proactively lower their cost of vehicle ownership. By embracing the use of their driving behaviour data, Kia owners can improve their driving behaviour. Additionally, Kia owners will have the option to share the scores with their insurer to personalise their insurance premium,” said James Burton, Managing Director, Europe and U.K. Insurance, LexisNexis Risk Solutions.
“Leveraging a scoring service that utilises our Drive Metrics model, automakers are better positioned to support their owners and insurers with more accurate segmentation based on actual driving risks and enable more personalised pricing of policy premiums.”
Overcoming Data and Compliance Challenges
Connected-car data often arrives in varied formats, but LexisNexis Risk Solutions normalises and standardises Kia Connect’s anonymised driving data to produce insurer-ready insights. The Kia App’s privacy-first approach ensures users explicitly consent to data collection in line with GDPR requirements, making the service transparent and secure.

Benefits Across the Ecosystem
- Consumers gain clear guidance on safer driving and potential cost savings through usage-based insurance.
- Insurers access engaged app users without building their own telematics programmes, improving risk segmentation and retention.
- Automakers enhance customer engagement by delivering real-time, personalised mobility services.
“Connected services are reshaping the driver experience, and by utilising the LexisNexis Risk Solutions scoring service that integrates driving insights from the LexisNexis Drive Metrics model into our Kia Connect platform, we’re taking the next step in offering smarter, safer driving, and more personalised mobility,” said Olivier Pascal, Head of Connected Cars, Kia Connect.
“This collaboration empowers our customers with real-time driving insights while supporting the insurance industry with meaningful, privacy-conscious data to deliver tailored insurance solutions. It’s a win for our drivers—and for the future of connected mobility.”
As vehicle connectivity continues to grow, this integration marks an early step in data-driven risk assessment for the automotive and insurance sectors. LexisNexis Risk Solutions remains committed to evolving its Drive Metrics scoring service and expanding its reach to empower consumers, insurers, and automakers in the connected mobility era.
